We’re looking for an Enquiries and Proposal Development Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in attracting and retaining inward investment in South Yorkshire. You’ll manage the full investment lifecycle—from handling enquiries and developing proposals to supporting investor relationships and reporting on successes. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the region’s economic growth by showcasing South Yorkshire as a prime destination for business investment.

About the role

In this role, you’ll be the first point of contact for businesses looking to establish or expand in South Yorkshire. You’ll lead on managing enquiries, developing tailored proposals, and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure a seamless and professional service. Your work will directly influence investment decisions and contribute to the region’s long‑term prosperity.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver a professional inward investment service by responding to opportunities from businesses seeking to establish or expand operations in South Yorkshire.
  • Proactively engage with active projects to progress opportunities and develop creative solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Build a deep understanding of the region’s economy, property market, and development opportunities, establishing strong relationships with developers and agents.
  • Provide management information for internal and external reports, including updates on pipeline enquiries and investment activity.
  • Coordinate inward investment content to support marketing and business development activities, and communicate sector propositions to national and international stakeholders.
  • Conduct research to support proposition development and maintain an accurate inward investment knowledge bank.
  • Monitor foreign direct investment (FDI) tools to identify potential leads and share them appropriately.

Essential:

  • Experience in customer‑focused roles with strong organisational skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of CRM systems and experience managing multichannel enquiry services.
  • Proven ability to work with a range of stakeholders and partners.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative, business‑oriented, and solutions‑focused approach.
  • Experience developing proposals for national and international clients.
  • Knowledge of major sectors in South Yorkshire and inward investment drivers.
  • Awareness of local and national grant programmes and business support schemes.
