Overview

We are on the lookout for an experienced and driven Quantity Surveyor to join a forward-thinking and dynamic commercial team based in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to take charge of financial and contractual elements of construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with industry standards. This role offers the chance to get involved in a variety of projects and will suit a confident Quantity Surveyor with a background in the UK construction industry.

Reporting directly into the Commercial Manager, the successful candidate will play a crucial part in all commercial aspects of project delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and analysing tender costings
  • Managing interim and final valuations and payment applications
  • Budget monitoring and cost reporting
  • Conducting regular site visits to verify valuations and progress
  • Valuing and managing project variations
  • Supporting procurement and subcontractor management
  • Handling commercial disputes and claims
  • Accurate record keeping of materials and completed works
  • Contributing to cost control, risk management and value engineering initiatives
  • Ensuring full compliance with company procedures and legislation
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or possess equivalent experience)
  • Have a minimum of 5 years' UK-based experience in a Quantity Surveyor role
  • Be well-versed in NEC, JCT and other standard contract forms
  • Demonstrate strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Be highly self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Chartered status with RICS (MRICS) or MCIOB, or actively working towards this
  • Broad sector experience across residential, commercial or infrastructure projects
