CODA Studios Ltd, an award-winning and collaborative architectural practice, is seeking to appoint a fully qualified Architect(RIBA) or Architectural Technologist (MCIAT) to join its Architecture team in Sheffield.

The team predominantly delivers residential-led developments, with additional involvement in commercial and industrial schemes. Projects range from small to large in scale, including schemes that fall within the definition of higher-risk buildings (HRBs).

Due to an increased workload forecast for next year, we are looking to expand our team with a job running Architect/Technologist who can help strengthen our capabilities and expand our ability to deliver high quality projects.

This permanent, full-time, office-based role which will also include a focus on Principal Designer (Building Regulations) responsibilities alongside the technical delivery of architectural projects, supporting the senior management in further developing our PD  offerings to clients and contractors.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking the duties of Principal Designer (Building Regulations) in accordance with current legislation, as well as contributing to the technical delivery of projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering residential-led projects, including private housing, developer-led schemes, apartments, and mixed-use developments
  • Acting as Principal Designer (Building Regulations) under the Building Safety Act
  • Managing and coordinating building regulations compliance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Liaising with Building Control bodies, clients, consultants, and internal project teams
  • Supporting Gateway submissions where applicable
  • Preparing, reviewing, and coordinating technical design information
  • Undertaking the broader responsibilities expected of a technically focused

Candidate Requirements
  • Fully qualified RIBA Architector MCIAT Architectural Tecnologist
  • Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Demonstrable experience acting as Principal Designer (Building Regulations), supported by a relevant portfolio
  • Strong technical capability and a thorough understanding of UK Building Regulations
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently
  • Professional, structured, and confident approach to client and consultant engagement
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Technical Skills
  • Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD – essential
  • Strong technical detailing and coordination skills
