Job Summary
Substantive | 10 PAs (part-time welcome)
Sheffield Community CAMHS is a well-established multidisciplinary service working across two sites – Centenary House and The Becton Centre. Our teams work together, sharing expertise and resources to deliver a high-quality, evidence-based service to children, young people, and families.
We are looking for a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join us, working with young people and families across the south and east of the city. Based at our Centenary House site, this is a replacement full-time post (10 Programmed Activities), with flexibility for part-time working or job sharing. Candidates with special interest areas are encouraged to apply, and support will be provided to develop these interests.
About You:
- MBChB or equivalent, with relevant specialist qualification
- CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or within 6 months of completion)
- Section 12(2) Approval
- Full GMC registration and licence to practise
Interviews expected to be held on Wednesday 18 February 2026.
Main duties of the job
- Provide senior clinical leadership and oversight for the care of referred children and young people
- Deliver comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatments
- Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, participating in joint visits, care planning, and team meetings
- Contribute to citywide service developments and specialist clinics
- Participate in daily triage or referral discussions where required
- Prescribe medication or supervise the Nurse Prescriber
- Offer advice and input into complex case management and treatment planning
- Participate in service planning, audit, and quality improvement

Person Specification
Essential
- Full GMC Registration
- MBChB or equivalent
- Relevant specialist qualification or equivalent
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent or within 6 months of gaining CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Section 12(2) Approval
Knowledge/Experience
- Appropriate training and experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Management/Audit
- Basic experience in management (e.g., trainee rotas)
- Involvement in audit/service improvement
Desirable
- Understanding of NHS management responsibilities of consultants
Academic Achievements
- Interest in research and clinical projects
Skills
- Able to communicate well with children, parents and staff
