Their Sheffield facility, based off the Sheffield Parkway, comprises a Forge, Foundry, and CNC Machining and Finishing processes. It employs approximately 230 people and focuses on joint reconstruction, in particular, knee and hip joints, and also the instruments required to fit the medical device parts.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you’ll set the strategy and technical direction for the site, supporting internal teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure alignment with business goals. This key leadership role sits within the Senior Management Team and calls for a confident, technically astute leader who can inspire, challenge, and guide highly skilled teams while overseeing all aspects of the Engineering function, including Process Engineering, Metallurgy, NPI, Machining, Toolroom, and Laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and developing the Engineering team to deliver new products, support production, and drive process improvement
• Managing engineering resources and budgets to meet departmental and project objectives
• Working closely with customers to understand requirements and deliver cost‑effective, on‑time solutions
• Overseeing the full NPI process, from risk assessment through to stage‑gate reviews and documentation
• Identifying and implementing process improvements through new technologies and equipment
• Collaborating with Commercial, Production, and Quality teams to ensure seamless project delivery and continuous improvement

The Person

We’re looking for a confident, hands‑on Engineering Manager who can inspire a team while maintaining a strong focus on technical excellence and delivery.

• A degree or recognised apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
• Proven experience leading a multi‑disciplinary engineering team
• A strong track record in NPI project management
  
  Solid experience in manufacturing, ideally within casting or forging
• Exposure to regulated industries such as medical, aerospace, or automotive
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
