About the Business Unit: We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.

We are currently looking to expand our transport modelling team in our Transport & Mobility Solutions (TMS) division. As a Transport Modeller you will be involved with a range of transport modelling projects working in teams based across the UK and Europe. You will be working on projects for high profile clients such as Department for Transport, National Highways, East West Rail Co and Heathrow Airport Ltd and a range of local clients and projects, and will have responsibility for delivering modelling work following our best practice guidelines.

• Working on strategic multi-modal modelling projects.
• Project and task involvement on modelling projects to include survey programmes, model development, calibration, validation, demand forecasting and economic appraisal.
• Checking outputs for compliance with quality requirements and industry best practice and motivate others to do so as well.
• Work with others in the modelling team to ensure project delivery and staff / team development.
• Provide key inputs to the development of business cases and scheme assessments.

Required qualifications

To carry out the responsibilities you will require a numerical degree at bachelors or master’s level or an equivalent qualification. You will have experience with modelling software such as SATURN, VISUM or CUBE and Diadem. Survey design, survey management and data analysis skills alongside an understanding of variable demand modelling and forecasting are also key skillsets necessary for the role.

• Expertise in Geographic Information System (GIS), Arc Map, QGIS or MAPINFO.
• Knowledge of Python, SQL and version control with Git.
• Knowledge of microsimulation software such as VISSIM, PARAMICS and AIMSUN.
