About the Role

We are seeking an Engineer or Senior Engineer to join the SME team in Sheffield, United Kingdom. You will be working as part of a growing Civil team with a big focus on Civil Infrastructure projects of varying sizes in the residential and commercial sectors.

Responsibilities

As an experienced member of the Civil Engineering team, you will be responsible for working with a collaborative team. You will be working predominantly on projects in the residential sector but every project will have multidisciplinary coordination with the structures and geotechnical team.

You will work autonomously on Civil Infrastructure site development design including Surface water and Drainage network design, Site development drawings, road design and detailed drafting levels. These sites range from 200 – 2000 and will be involved in pre‑planning and detailed design phases of the project.

Candidate Profile
  • UK right to work and previous UK consultancy experience
  • 3 years minimum of experience as a Civil Engineer with a focus on infrastructure design
  • If Senior – Proven track record delivering and leading packages of work
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD, Site 3D/Civil 3D. Beneficial if have experience with drainage packages such as Microdrainage or Info drainage but not essential
  • Strong understanding and design capabilities for Section 278, S38, S104, S106 applications
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards, codes, and guidelines related to infrastructure design and construction
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
