General Ledger Accountant
Sheffield, South Yorkshire
A growing organisation is looking to strengthen its finance function with the addition of a General Ledger Accountant. Based in Sheffield, this role is ideal for someone who is proactive, confident working across multiple entities, and keen to continue developing in a fast-paced environment.
The position covers a broad range of financial and management accounting duties, taking responsibility for the month-end process, balance sheet integrity, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure all financial transactions are posted accurately and correctly reflected within the general ledger.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances promptly.
- Deliver month-end tasks in line with internal timetables and group reporting deadlines.
- Collaborate with the Shared Service Centre, supporting them with accounting and AP-related activities.
- Maintain compliance with internal financial controls and reporting standards.
- Assist with both group and local statutory audits.
- Produce clear and reliable management information to support informed decision-making.
- Support the integration and onboarding of newly acquired entities when required.
- Identify and implement improvements to processes to enhance efficiency and support ongoing business growth.
- Participate in ad hoc tasks and projects as needed.
- Part-qualified preferred, though applicants with varying levels of experience will be considered.
- Previous experience in management accounting, with strong journal posting and balance sheet reconciliation skills.
- Confident analysing large or complex datasets and presenting findings simply and effectively.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively across teams.
