Salary: DOE + car allowance and benefits
Location: Sheffield – Hybrid working (4 days office, 1 day home)
Regular travel to other Group sites will be required.
Cura Terrae is looking to recruit a Senior Financial Controller to join our growing Group Finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, technically strong finance professional to take on a key leadership role in a dynamic, expanding group of environmental businesses. You’ll play a pivotal role in providing financial control, insight, and strategic guidance across one of our operating divisions, helping drive sustainable growth and operational excellence.

As a Senior Financial Controller
, you’ll provide financial leadership and strategic support to your division, ensuring accurate and insightful reporting, strong financial governance, and continuous improvement in systems and processes.
You’ll work closely with senior leadership and operational teams, translating financial data into actionable insights that drive performance, profitability and sustainable value creation. This is a key role for a commercially minded accountant who thrives in a hands‑on, fast‑paced and collaborative environment.
What you’ll be doing- Delivering accurate, timely and insightful management reporting for the division.
- Driving improvements in financial systems, reporting tools and analytics capability.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal control frameworks.
- Managing month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end processes, including audits.
- Acting as a trusted business partner to senior leaders, providing commercial advice and financial insights.
- Leading budgeting, forecasting and multi‑year planning in collaboration with Group Finance.
- Monitoring working capital, cash flow and project financial performance.
- Supporting bids and proposals with financial modelling and commercial evaluation.
- Championing continuous improvement and digitalisation in finance processes.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
- Strong technical background and proven post‑qualification experience in financial control and reporting cycles.
- Demonstrated business partnering within a multi‑entity organisation.
- Experience of using ERP systems, preferably Business Central.
- Experience working with external auditors and managing year‑end reporting deadlines.
- Experience managing small finance teams and supporting system or process improvements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and advise non‑finance stakeholders.
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Collaboration within the finance department.
- A proactive, adaptable approach, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a growing business.
- A passion for driving both commercial performance and sustainable growth.
- Business partnering with operational leads across the business.
