Head of Finance and Commerical

Sewell Wallis is recruiting for a Head of Finance and Commercial for a South Yorkshire public sector organisation based in Sheffield. This is a senior leadership role reporting into the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for shaping financial strategy, driving commercial performance and ensuring strong financial governance across the organisation.

• Leading and developing the finance and commercial team, driving engagement and improvement
• Delivering financial strategy, annual budgets and strategic advice to the CEO and ELT
• Producing accurate reporting, forecasting and financial models for ELT and Board decisions
• Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, audit standards and government frameworks
• Overseeing annual accounts, external audit, procurement and commercial policy compliance

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIPFA, ACCA or CIMA) with senior-level experience
• Proven leadership capability with experience developing high-performing teams
• Strong strategic thinker with the ability to deliver operational excellence
• Skilled in budgeting, costing models and financial analysis
• Excellent communicator with strong collaboration skills and commitment to inclusion

• Hybrid working- 2 days per week in the Sheffield office
• 25 days annual leave rising to 30 with service, plus bank holidays
