Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Senior Advisor in the UK BAT team you can.

• Support the drafting of BAT Conclusions and liaise with Technical Working Groups.
• Present final BAT documents suitable for publication as a UK‑wide environmental standard for industry.
• Co‑ordinate the work of technical authors and ensure the final document meets quality and timeliness requirements.
• Utilise smart tools to stay connected, and accommodate required travel and overnight stays.
• Develop and maintain inclusive incident management plans, receiving support and training to secure an incident role that suits your needs.
• Contribute to the UK BAT Team’s delivery of new environmental standards, operating within the Environment & Business Directorate and reporting to DEFRA and the Standards Council.

• Minimum 5 years of experience working in environmental regulation across a variety of industrial sectors.
• Solid understanding of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, particularly the IED and Environmental Permitting Regulations.
• Experience coordinating and reviewing the publication of technical documents.
• Ability to critically review arguments and data, and coordinate technical authoring teams.
• Excellent project‑management skills, with a drive to complete projects on time.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, planning and prioritising tasks effectively.
• Adaptive to challenges, building consensus and encouraging diversity in team work.
• Knowledge of the implications of BAT Conclusions in permits and their impact on industry and the environment.

Interviews will take place on MS Teams and will involve capability‑based questions and a presentation.

A reserve list will be maintained for 6 months. Depending on your skills and experience you may be offered an alternative post.
