Associate Director Web Development and AI

Compensation: £65,000 – £90,000 per year (£77,000 Sheffield / £90,000 London, depending on experience)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week; flexible days and/or hours (Mon-Fri)

Responsibilities

With responsibility for leading the development and delivery of the Bank’s digital and AI strategy and web development across the organisation’s digital estate, you will drive improvements in website architecture, automation, and platform integration. You will proactively engage across the organisation and with internal stakeholders and external agencies to recommend technical solutions that address customer needs and improve internal operating efficiencies, ensuring web projects align with strategic and business objectives.

All activity will be evidence‑based, tracked, measurable, and data‑driven.

You will also manage front‑ and back‑end web development, architecture, review of functional and technical specifications, UX/UI, accessibility, compliance, data attribution modelling, data management and evaluation, CMS, CRM, optimisation, and broader digital activity.

With significant experience leading and delivering website and digital strategies within complex, multi‑stakeholder environments, you will demonstrate a strong understanding of website architecture, security, accessibility, and compliance standards in a regulated environment. Extensive experience overseeing enterprise‑level Drupal CMS platforms—including governance, development roadmaps, module integration, and performance optimisation—is essential, as is expertise in applying AI and automation to enhance user experience, personalisation, and efficiency.
