We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Fin Ops Specialist.

The role of the Fin Ops Specialist will be to lead the design and implementation of cloud financial operations (Fin Ops) strategies and tooling across our organization.

You will play a critical role in enabling cost transparency governance and optimization in our multi‑cloud environment by building scalable solutions and defining standards through collaboration with finance engineering architecture and product teams.

In this role you will :

• Design plan and implement scalable Fin Ops systems and tools for cloud cost visibility forecasting and optimization.
• Build or integrate tools to aggregate billing data from AWS Azure GCP and SaaS platforms.
• Collaborate with Dev Ops and engineering to automate cost optimization processes (e.g. rightsizing auto‑scaling scheduling)

• Develop and execute a Fin Ops roadmap to improve cost accountability and cloud financial management maturity.
• Serve as the primary solution designer for all Fin Ops‑related tooling reporting and integrations.
• Define and enforce cloud cost governance policies including tagging budgeting chargeback / showback and resource allocation strategies.
• Educate guide and influence the wider Fin Ops team and community on the development of the Fin Ops tooling ecosystem and navigation of HSBC processes.

• Build automated optimisation solutions and dashboards to deliver cost savings for HSBC.
• Deliver improved cost anomaly reporting solutions

• Work closely with Finance Engineering and Architecture to translate business needs into Fin Ops technical solutions.
• Act as a Fin Ops subject matter expert with the major technical stakeholder communities (e.g. architecture and engineering organizations).
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure resources are right‑sized and cost‑effective.

• Extensive experience in cloud solution design cloud financial management Dev Ops or platform engineering / architecture
• Experience with Fin Ops platforms such as Apptio Cloudability Cloud Health Prosper Ops Power BI Power Apps or custom‑built tools.
• Strong knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g. Big Query Athena Snowflake Tableau Looker).
• Proficiency in Python SQL and infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Terraform
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

This role is based in Sheffield.
