We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join our Legal Services Unit in Manchester, Sheffield or Bristol. The Legal Services Unit is the central paralegal team at CMS, assisting associates and partners across the different departments in the UK offices on a wide variety of tasks and projects. The role will focus on supporting our energy clients with English law transactions, including negotiating and completing easements and wayleaves, handling options and variations, and assisting with the purchase and lease of substations and construction compounds.
Responsibilities
:
- Managing a busy caseload of transactions, including liaising with clients to obtain instructions.
- Drafting acquisition documentation, negotiating with counter parties, and carrying out title reviews.
- Assisting with file‑opening procedures, preparing first drafts of retainer letters, and ensuring compliance with money‑laundering regulations.
- Working with data rooms and online trackers.
- Managing completion and post‑completion registrations, filing, and client signing/reporting requirements.
About You
:
We need an enthusiastic Real‑Estate‑focused Paralegal with keen eye for detail, initiative, and the ability to manage a large workload. You should possess excellent organisational and time‑management skills, prioritise conflicting deadlines, and communicate effectively as part of a team. A strong academic background and a degree in law (or equivalent) is preferred; alternatively, you may be working towards CILEX or arising from prior Real‑Estate paralegal experience.
Full training on our systems and processes will be provided, along with ongoing development of legal knowledge Fris one's soft skills. CMS offers career development opportunities for those demonstrating excellence and potential.
