GEOARCHAEOLOGIST / SENIOR GEOARCHAEOLOGIST
About The Role
Permanent position following a 6-month probation period.
Archaeological Research Services Ltd is recruiting a Geoarchaeologist/Senior Geoarchaeologist to join our Specialist Services team. We are looking for a well‑organised individual with excellent writing skills, strong sediment logging, monolith sampling and interpretation skills, and proficiency at producing reports. You should be able to undertake geomorphic mapping and, ideally, create deposit models.
We use cutting‑edge equipment, including pOSL, Gamma Spectrometer, pXRF, magnetic susceptibility instrumentation, and seda
DNA sampling, enabling us to offer advanced sediment profiling. You will be based at our Bakewell offices and Sheffield environmental unit, with travel for meetings, site visits and training as appropriate. Remote‑working arrangements may be discussed.
You will contribute to commercial and research‑based archaeological projects. Additional specialisms, such as plant macrofossils, wood IDs or pollen, are welcomed. A thorough knowledge of British archaeology is helpful. You must be able to work effectively as a team member and deliver to deadlines.
