Actual Salary: £12,970 - £13,173 per annum (Grade 3, SCP 3-4) subject to experience.
This role is for 22.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days).
Are you an organised, approachable, and proactive individual who thrives in a busy school office environment? Sherborne Abbey Primary School are seeking a dedicated Administrative Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. Although the role is primarily office based, there is regular contact with students so a good understanding of safeguarding is essential. The successful applicant must be available to work mornings and a full day on Fridays.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out a range of general administrative tasks to support the school’s day-to-day operations.
- Maintain pupil and school records, databases, and filing systems.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail and communications.
- Operate reprographics equipment and support with document preparation.
- Answer phone calls and greet visitors in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Provide admin support across departments and assist colleagues as needed.
- Uphold high standards of safeguarding and confidentiality at all times.
- Has strong administrative and IT skills, including experience with Microsoft Office.
- Is confident communicating with staff, pupils, parents, and external visitors.
- Can work independently and manage priorities under pressure.
- Is friendly, flexible, and a team player.
- Demonstrates a professional attitude and attention to detail.

Safeguarding responsibilities associated with this role may include engagement in regulatory activity, such as administering first aid or supporting an upset child. It will involve contact with young people on a day-to-day basis. The successful candidate will have to meet the person specification, and the post is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and Children’s Barred List check.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
