About the Role

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a Seed Analyst Trainee
. This entry-level position is designed for candidates who want to develop expertise in seed analysis and quality systems in a laboratory setting. You will receive comprehensive training in sample preparation, testing, and evaluation, with the opportunity to progress as you gain experience and accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for testing, planting, and evaluation within accredited areas.
• Learn and maintain compliance with accreditation scope (CFIA Tables 1 through 20).
• Learn and maintain compliance of AOSA and ISTA Rules
• Understand and apply:
  • SGS Code of Integrity
  • Global SGS Quality and Professionalism Policy Statement
  • SGS Sherwood Park Quality Policy and all aspects of the Quality System
• Identify and report quality issues in processes to the Quality System.
• Recommend or assist in implementing solutions to nonconformances.
• Work competently in LIMSfor sample tracking and data management.
• Ensure awareness of occupational health and safety risks and proper use of PPE in all work areas.

• Experience:Specialized knowledge beyond high school, typically gained through 1–2 years of formal or technical training. Experience in an accredited laboratory or at a university in Botany, Crop Science, or a related field is a strong asset.
• High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to read and comprehend labels and instructions.
• Dependable and reliable; daily presence contributes to departmental success.
• Ability to follow instructions independently with minimal supervision.
