Responsibilities

  • Support the ward nursing team to provide care for patients including hygiene needs, personal care, assistance with taking diet and fluids, and checking basic observations.
  • Work within the established nursing team on Ward 23 alongside registered nurses, healthcare assistants and therapy staff to deliver personal care as needed.
  • Cope with working under pressure and in an emotive environment when caring for oncology and haematology patients.
  • Work well as part of a team, demonstrating good communication skills, a caring nature, and a kind, compassionate approach to patients and their relatives.
Qualifications & Working Conditions
  • Previous experience as a care assistant helpful but not essential; full training will be given.
  • Minimum 23 hours per week; part‑time working is considered.
  • Internal rotation working day, night and weekend shifts; all shifts are 12.5 hours in length.
  • Set working patterns and days off are negotiable.
  • Essential qualities: calm, motivated, conscientious, good sense of humour, sensitivity in dealing with distressed patients and relatives.
