We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Ford, a male open prison located in Ford, West Sussex.

HMP Ford is a male open prison that can accommodate around 550 inmates. We are recruiting a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to support the Healthcare Team with duties such as assessments, 1‑1 and group clinics, and second checking of medicines. You will need to have Substance Misuse experience.

Hours

30 hours per week.

Week 1: 08:00 – 16:00 – 4 days per week

Week 2: 08:00 – 16:00 – 3 days per week

You will also be required to work 08:00 – 11:45 every other weekend.

Salary

This position is 30 hours per week; you’ll receive an annual salary up to £31,080 per annum FTE, depending on experience. The salary will be pro rata for 30 hours per week.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

What you'll be doing
  • Be working with other members of the team that you are part of, assessing needs of patients and assessing risks accordingly.
  • Provide outstanding evidence based care to a caseload of psycho-social patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Provide a programme of psycho-social interventions, along with information and advice on substance misuse, alcohol, smoking cessation, blood borne viruses and safe sex practices.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care on a one-to-one basis and through group work, supporting the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks.
  • You’ll make a real difference as defined throughout our bespoke HiJ competency framework following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.
