Baler Operative

Responsibilities

• You will be operating and maintaining a baler to compact recyclable materials into blocks which can easily be stacked, loaded and transported.
• Baling and sorting recyclable materials from conveyors and storage bunkers.
• Control quality to ensure proper bale weight, density, and binding.
• Carry out first line maintenance routines.
• Assist with sorting and baling of materials for storage.
• Operate a mobile plant to load materials into containers and onto curtain sided vehicles.
• Select and install machine components such as baling wire and cutters, according to specifications using hand tools.

• A good knowledge of health and safety.
• Previous experience in a similar operational role using machinery is desirable.
• Previous experience within the waste and resource industry is desirable.

Permanent full‑time. Salary: £14.00 per hour plus Veolia benefits.

Hours:

37.5 per week, Monday to Friday 08:00‑16:00.

The new Plastics Recycling Facility (PRF) is designed to process up to 200,000 tonnes of non‑hazardous plastics annually. This processing includes manual separation, size reduction, automatic sorting, granulation, cleaning, washing, and either baling or bagging. Screening will take place towards the end of January 2026.

Interviews will take place in February 2026 onwards.
