Job Overview

Eden Brown Synergy is recruiting an experienced Senior Practitioner to join Shropshire Council's UASC (Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children) & Pathways Team. This specialist role focuses on supporting young people aged 16+, both UASC and non-UASC, preparing them for independence and adulthood while ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.

The role blends Children Looked After (CLA) duties with immigration-related casework, working alongside specialist services to secure legal status and progression toward permanence. You will manage a mixed caseload and provide creative, outcomes-focused interventions to support young people in achieving stability and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a caseload of UASC and non-UASC looked after young people, progressing care and pathway plans for independence
Undertake statutory CLA duties, including pathway planning, care planning, and review meetings
Support immigration applications and collaborate with specialist services to secure legal status for UASC children
Undertake direct work with young people to develop life skills and independence
Provide professional advice, information, and guidance to young people, carers, and multi-agency partners
Attend and contribute to statutory meetings, reviews, and court proceedings where required
Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and pathway documentation in line with policies and procedures
Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to achieve permanence and positive outcomes

Essential Requirements

Qualified Social Worker (DipSW / Degree or equivalent)
Social Work England (SWE) registration
Experience working with Children Looked After (CLA) aged 16+
Experience supporting UASC / unaccompanied minors through immigration or legal processes
Strong knowledge of pathway planning, independence, and permanency planning
Ability to work creatively to resolve complex cases and secure permanence
Excellent communication, assessment, and risk-management skills
Confidence managing a varied caseload and working independently
