Hours: On average 37.5 hours per week, shifts as per site rota (Monday – Friday 07:00 – 22:00)
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour
Transport: Own transport required and a full UK manual driving licence needed for company vehicle

Role OverviewThe Environmental Enforcement Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining public health, safety, and environmental standards by enforcing environmental laws and regulations. The role involves investigating violations, issuing warnings, fines, or citations, and educating the public about environmental responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities- Assist the Council in investigating complaints made by members of the public
- Daily liaison with the Council and provide statistical data and freedom of information requests
- Issue Fixed Penalty Notices in a front‑line role
- Monitor conduct and performance of the team and ensure smooth running of the team
- Provide theory and front‑line training to new team members and on‑the‑ground support as required
- Document processes across enforcement teams and keep up to date with legislation
- Conduct officer appraisals and compile initial prosecution files, liaising with the Local Authority legal team
- Produce statistical reports on daily, monthly and yearly basis
- Enforce environmental regulations and local by‑laws relating to littering, fly‑tipping, graffiti, waste management, noise pollution and other concerns
- Patrol assigned areas to detect violations and ensure compliance
- Investigate reports of environmental offences from the public and respond promptly to complaints
- Issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) and citations for non‑compliance
- Prepare and serve legal documents, including warning notices and fines, in accordance with local laws
- Conduct follow‑up visits to ensure compliance and take further action if necessary
- Investigate environmental offences such as illegal dumping, abandoned vehicles and unlawful waste disposal by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and preparing case files
- Use surveillance equipment to monitor and collect evidence of environmental crimes
- Report findings to senior management and collaborate with legal teams to pursue prosecutions when necessary
- Prepare case files for prosecution, including evidence, photographs and witness statements
- Attend court proceedings and present evidence as required to support legal action against environmental offenders
- Express information clearly and concisely to ensure understanding
- Adapt to change and work effectively in various situations and weather conditions
Participate in our training course to gain insight into daily duties, current legislation, communication and interaction aspects of the role, earning a recognised qualification in environmental awareness.
