Senior or Principal Scientist – In Vitro Pharmacology
We are looking for a Senior or Principal Scientist to join us in our In Vitro Pharmacology team, based in our Slough, UK facilities.
AboutThe Role
The primary role of this position is to drive the progression of immune cell engager antibodies from research towards clinical development. This is a laboratory‑based role focused on the design, optimisation, execution, and interpretation of high‑throughput cellular screening assays involving both cell lines and primary Human material from healthy donors and patients. These assays will be relevant for selecting & profiling novel immune cell engagers that target disease pathologies relevant to the patient value strategy of UCB.
WhoYou’ll Work With
You will report into a Senior Principal Scientist – In Vitro Pharmacology.
What You’ll Do- Design, optimise, and perform pharmacologically relevant screening assays to investigate the function and mechanism of action of novel molecules and targets.
- Work safely within the laboratory environment by maintaining Health & Safety awareness.
- Use appropriate data analysis tools to interrogate, understand and display data.
- Maintain high‑quality records of experiments using appropriate digital platforms.
- Communicate experimental data at relevant forums; understand experimental findings and interpret appropriately for the wider team.
- Where appropriate, guide and mentor junior scientists, both planning and performing quality control of their work.
- Knowledge & experience related to T cell or immune cell engagement, in oncology or other disease areas.
- Experience developing in vitro assays to assess immune cell activation, cytotoxicity, and cytokine release.
- Experience with technologies and software packages including high‑throughput and high‑content platforms; automation and liquid handling, cytometry, imaging, immunoassays, and relevant molecular biology techniques.
- Experience working with primary Human cells and tissues, complying with HTA guidelines.
- Experience with large datasets from complex biological models, and associated skills in large dataset analytics.
