Finance Director Designate

Our client is a long-established leader in engineering group supporting a wide range of sectors including power generation, defence and nuclear. Based in the West Midlands, the business has an excellent reputation for quality and technical expertise.

The business is seeking a Finance Director Designate to act as the number one finance professional, with a clear pathway to progressing into the Finance Director role. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the full financial management of the business, providing strong governance, insightful reporting and commercial support to drive profitable growth. You will also play a lead role in systems and process improvement, including leading the implementation of a new manufacturing ERP system.

Key Responsibilities
* Lead the company's accounting function and finance team
* Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, KPIs and board reporting
* Own cashflow forecasting, budgeting and financial planning
* Partner with commercial and operational teams on project costing, margins and performance
* Support pricing, investment and capex decisions
* Oversee year-end statutory accounts and manage auditor and advisor relationships
* Maintain relationships with banks and external funders
* Lead finance process improvements and ERP implementation

About You
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
* Strong experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Background in an SME or owner-managed business preferred
* Commercially minded with excellent analytical and communication skills
* Proven experience working as part of a senior leadership team
* ERP implementation experience highly desirable
