Role Overview

An established independent mental health provider is seeking an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to join a multidisciplinary team supporting adults with complex mental health needs.

This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist clinical skills while delivering high-quality, recovery-focused occupational therapy interventions within a modern inpatient environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting independence, wellbeing, and meaningful occupational engagement for individuals who may have experienced trauma and long-term mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions aligned to individual care plans

Manage a designated clinical caseload using evidence-based practice

Apply specialist expertise in occupational engagement, environmental adaptation and skill development

Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff and support workers

Support occupational therapy student placements

Contribute to appraisal processes and personal development planning

Assist with the development and implementation of policies, protocols and care pathways

Communicate effectively with service users, families, carers, MDT colleagues and external agencies

Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of service users at all times

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy

Registration with the relevant professional body (HCPC)

Significant post-qualification experience working with adults with complex mental health needs

Extensive experience applying occupational therapy frames of reference and clinical approaches

Evidence of strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills

Highly specialist knowledge of assessment tools and treatment models

Experience working with vulnerable individuals

Strong communication, leadership and team-working abilities
