OverviewWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Factory Technical Manager to join a well-established Food Processing business based in Yorkshire. This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring product quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the site. Reporting to the Head of Technical, the role is ideal for a Food Industry Technical professional who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and has strong knowledge of meat processing operations and food safety systems.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain QA programmes ensuring products meet all quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure adherence to customer specifications and enforce food safety protocols to mitigate risks.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction, improved efficiency, and consistent product quality.
- Manage and support the QC team, driving a strong site-wide quality culture.
- Lead internal and external audits, including customer and third-party assessments.
- Maintain accurate quality records, including non-conformance reports, testing data, and corrective actions.
- Respond to quality issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
- Identify and address potential risks to product quality and food safety.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a Technical or QA Manager role within meat or food processing.
- Strong understanding of food processing, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory standards.
- Confident leader with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work in a temperature-controlled production environment when required.
- Proficiency with quality management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Desirable).
- Experience with industry certification schemes e.g. BRC (Desirable).
