- Salary – £64,158- £99,975 per annum plus £1,750.47 High Secure Environmental Allowance per annum and a High Secure Clinical Responsibility Allowance of £4,201.29 per annum. On call availability supplement currently 3% (subject to change in line with Specialty Doctor (2022) Terms & Conditions).
- Hours – Post 1: 40 hours;
Post 2: 32 hours. - Contract Duration – Permanent.
- Post Details – We are recruiting two Specialty Doctors to join the State Hospital, Carstairs – Scotland and Northern Ireland’s only high secure psychiatric hospital.
You will join a well‑resourced, multi‑disciplinary team working alongside experienced Consultant Psychiatrists and medical colleagues. The role involves diagnosing, assessing, planning, and delivering care and treatment for individuals with severe and complex mental health needs. Our modern hospital in rural South Lanarkshire offers an excellent working environment and is easily accessible from Scotland’s central belt (Edinburgh and Glasgow).
In addition to core clinical duties, there are opportunities to develop interests in research, audit and psychological therapies. Other responsibilities include participation in a quiet, non‑residential 1:6 on‑call rota with prospective cover. We currently offer half a day per fortnight of time back for on‑call participation, which can be combined with SPA time for professional development (e.g. gaining experience in other areas of psychiatry, subject to job planning agreement).
