Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Position: Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Permanent)
NRL are working with a leading building service contractor to recruit an Assistant / Junior / Graduate Quantity Surveyor on a Permanent basis in the North East.

A leading Electrical and Mechanical Company, they deliver high-quality engineering solutions across commercial, healthcare, and industrial sectors. With a strong pipeline of projects and a reputation for excellence, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join growing commercial team.

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in managing the financial and contractual aspects of M&E projects. You’ll assist in cost planning, procurement, valuations, and reporting to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions
Support procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including issuing enquiries and evaluating quotations
Measure and value works on-site, including variations and change orders
Assist in preparing interim valuations and final accounts
Maintain accurate records of project costs and contractual correspondence
Support the Senior QS in preparing monthly cost reports and forecasts
Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are met
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
Attend site meetings and contribute to project reviews

Who are we looking for?

Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or working towards)
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other commercial software
Understanding of M&E systems and terminology
Full UK driving licence
