Location: Somerset West
KEY PURPOSE OF JOB
The Vibration Technician is responsible for setting up and operating vibration testing equipment, software, and supporting hardware to safely execute test runs. The role includes storing, analysing, and reporting on test data to support project and client requirements.
KEY TASKS- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, as well as calibration tasks for the vibration test facility
- Conduct hands‑on test setup, including mounting and removing units on the shaker table and installing instrumentation (e.g., accelerometers)
- Support modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives within the test facility
- Ensure the workspace is clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards
- Configure and prepare files to run various vibration profiles
- Maintain and archive configuration files on the PDM database
- Execute vibration tests according to project requirements
- Post‑process and analyse test data to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Compile and write professional, client‑facing test reports
- Monitor consumable stock levels and initiate ordering when required
Qualification:
- NDip/BTech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution
Experience & Knowledge:
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a high‑tech environment
- Hands‑on experience with mechanical testing and maintenance tasks
- Familiarity with structural analysis and instrumentation for data logging
- Understanding of ISO 9001 requirements
Added advantage:
- Experience with 3D CAD software for fixture design (Solid Works) would be advantageous
- Own car and valid driver’s license preferable
