Job Summary:We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Solar Design Engineer who will also take on the responsibilities of a Project Engineer. In this hybrid role, the candidate will be responsible for designing and developing solar power systems and managing the full lifecycle of solar energy projects from initial concept to completion. The ideal candidate will have expertise in both engineering design and project management, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and timely delivery of solar energy solutions.
Key Responsibilities:Solar Design Engineering:
- Design solar power systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with local codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Perform solar site assessments and energy yield calculations to determine optimal system design, including panel orientation, shading analysis, and structural considerations.
- Develop detailed system designs including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans using software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar tools.
- Specify solar components (solar panels, inverters, racking systems, etc.) and ensure all components are selected based on performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate solar systems into existing structures or new builds, including electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering teams.
- Provide technical support to clients and internal teams during the installation and commissioning phases.
- Lead solar energy projects from initial design through to final implementation, ensuring timely completion, quality standards, and client satisfaction.
- Develop and manage project timelines, schedules, and budgets, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure deadlines and financial targets are met.
- Oversee procurement of materials and components, working with suppliers and vendors to ensure delivery within budget and on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and all relevant codes during project execution.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety, and troubleshoot any technical issues.
- Prepare progress reports for stakeholders, including the project team, clients, and upper management, highlighting milestones, risks, and solutions.
- Work closely with the sales team to provide technical guidance during the proposal and bidding process, including cost estimates and system specifications.
- Collaborate with construction teams to ensure the seamless installation of solar systems and resolve any technical issues that arise on-site.
- Assist in the development and optimization of installation procedures, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Support the commissioning process, ensuring all systems are fully operational and meet client requirements before handover.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Professional experience in solar power system design and project management (preferably 2+ years).
- Strong knowledge of solar energy technologies, including photovoltaic (PV) systems, energy storage, and grid integration.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, or Helioscope.
- Solid understanding of local electrical codes (NEC, IEC, etc.) and safety regulations.
- Project management experience, with a proven track record of leading projects from concept to completion.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot design or installation issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with clients, vendors, and cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage several projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a focus on high‑quality outcomes.
