Faircape Health is expanding its sub‑acute and rehabilitation services at our long‑term healthcare facility in Somerset West. We provide short‑term, long‑term, dementia, respite and palliative care in a secure, supportive and compassionate environment.
We bridge the gap between hospital and home with a highly skilled Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) dedicated to creating the most therapeutic setting possible. Every aspect of our care aims to support healing, comfort, dignity and quality of life.
About the RoleYou will work hand‑in‑hand with the Shift Leader to ensure smooth night‑time operations, continuity of care and effective coordination across the facility. You will play a central role in overseeing nursing functions, supporting the care team and upholding Clinical Standards.
Responsibilities- Report to the Senior Shift Leader and maintain high patient care and operational flow during night shifts.
- Support a nursing team, Carers, management and HR.
- Collaborate with a team of aligned clinical professionals.
- Implement, review and update individualized care plans.
- Monitor staff compliance with care plans and facility protocols.
- Conduct high‑risk assessments and document all essential clinical information.
- Uphold best‑practice clinical methods.
- Ensure safe, compliant medication administration, including storage and blister pack management.
- Implement and maintain infection control protocols.
- Manage clinical stock, monitor par levels and restock supplies.
- Follow policies for emergencies, including calling Emergency Services.
- Act according to patients' living wills or advanced directives.
- Inform MDT and families promptly of incidents or deaths.
- SANC registered as a Registered Nurse
. - Basic Life Support certification is advantageous.
- Proven experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Knowledge of Dementia, Frail and Palliative care is advantageous.
- Proficiency in organizing and delivering staff training sessions.
- Experience in scheduling and managing staff shifts.
- Strong clinical expertise with assessments, treatments and patient care.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Problem‑solving and emergency decision‑making ability.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances and protocols.
- Team collaboration and ability to manage a nursing unit’s daily operations.
- Staff performance management skills.
- Time‑management and resource prioritisation.
- Clear health, criminal and credit records.
- Two positive references.
- Normal working days:
Monday to Sunday. - Required:
16.25 shifts per month. - Night shifts: 19h00 – 07h00.
- Quarterly performance bonuses.
- Minimum of 2 Sundays per month and public holiday pay.
- Long service leave.
