Requirements- Post Basic Qualification in Trauma & Emergency (essential)
- Minimum 2-3 Years of experience in the Trauma (essential)
- Degree/Diploma in General Nursing
- Up-to-date BLS, ACLS and others (advantageous)
- SANC Registered
- Provide specialised nursing care to patients presenting with trauma-related injuries and emergencies in accordance with hospital and professional standards.
- Perform triage assessments to prioritise patient care based on clinical severity.
- Assist with the resuscitation and stabilisation of critically injured or ill patients according to ACLS/ATLS/PALS guidelines.
- Initiate and manage emergency procedures, including IV therapy, wound care, fracture immobilisation, and haemodynamic monitoring.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, surgeons, anaesthetists, and paramedics, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Accurately document all patient information, treatment plans, and interventions in compliance with legal and hospital standards.
- Monitor and manage patients throughout their emergency department stay, ensuring timely transfer or admission to the appropriate unit.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control protocols.
- Maintain readiness of trauma and emergency equipment and ensure adequate stock levels for emergencies.
- Provide emotional support and information to patients and families in high-stress environments.
- Participate in continuous professional development, trauma drills, and training programmes to maintain up-to-date clinical competencies.
- Promote quality improvement initiatives and uphold the hospital’s quality and safety standards.
- Supervise and guide junior staff, enrolled nurses, and student nurses in trauma care practices.
- Participate in audits, incident reporting, and clinical governance activities within the unit.
