Registered Nurse; NICU Trained – Benoni

• Post Basic Qualification in Critical Care OR Midwifery & Neonatal Nursing Science
• Degree/Diploma in General Nursing & Midwifery
• SANC Registered
• Minimum 2-3 Years of experience in the NICU unit.

• Provide comprehensive, specialised nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates requiring intensive and high-dependency care.
• Monitor, assess, and manage infants on ventilation, oxygen therapy, and incubators etc.
• Administer prescribed medication, fluids, and nutrition according to NICU protocols and paediatric dosing standards.
• Interpret and respond to neonatal vital signs, blood gases, and laboratory results to ensure early detection of complications.
• Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards within the NICU environment.
• Assist with neonatal resuscitation and emergency procedures in accordance with NRP and hospital policies.
• Collaborate closely with neonatologists, paediatricians, and multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes.
• Provide ongoing emotional support, education, and counselling to parents and families.
• Accurately document nursing care, treatment plans, and clinical observations in patient records.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, mortality and morbidity meetings, and continuous professional development.
• Ensure availability and proper functioning of NICU equipment (incubators, monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps).
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and student nurses in neonatal nursing practices.
