About

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will provide engineering support for the day-to-day delivery of works on a water pipeline project. You will help ensure that construction activities are planned and completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and relevant safety requirements. The role involves regular collaboration with site management, construction teams, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. You will also help identify and resolve engineering issues promptly, escalating concerns where required. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a site-based environment, managing changing priorities, and maintaining high standards across all assigned tasks. A valid Thames Water passport is essential for this position.

Qualifications

Applicants should have previous experience in a Site Engineer role on civil engineering or water infrastructure projects, with relevant experience in water works particularly valuable. You should be able to interpret construction drawings and project specifications and apply them accurately to site activities. The following qualifications and requirements are essential:

  • White CSCS card.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
  • Previous experience working on water projects or comparable civil engineering works.
  • Valid Thames Water passport.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills are important. You should be methodical when completing engineering and quality documentation, confident communicating with site teams, and committed to maintaining safe working practices.

Responsibilities
  • Complete setting out and surveying activities in line with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and support the implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Carry out quality assurance and quality control checks, documenting results and supporting the close-out of any non-conformances.
  • Confirm that completed work meets design requirements, project specifications, and applicable standards before it progresses to the next stage.
  • Promote and monitor compliance with health and safety procedures, raising hazards and concerns with the appropriate site personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of measurements, inspections, materials, and engineering activities.
  • Coordinate with site managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to support efficient delivery.
  • Identify technical or site issues early and communicate them clearly to help the team agree appropriate actions.
Benefits

This role offers the opportunity to work on a significant water infrastructure scheme with a national civil engineering contractor. You will be part of a site-based project team and have the chance to apply your engineering experience to essential utility works. Further details about the engagement, working arrangements, and any applicable benefits will be discussed during the recruitment process.
