Our placements are designed to help you apply your studies in a practical setting, develop your technical skills, and gain valuable insight into how our business operates.
Our Industrial Placement ProgrammeYou’ll receive a salary of £25,000, with coaching and support from a dedicated team to help you achieve both your placement objectives and personal development goals.
Successful completion may also lead to an offer on our Graduate Development Programme.
During your placement, we encourage you to spend at least three days each week on site to integrate with your team and maximise your learning experience.
What you will do as an Industrial Placement Project Management- Work in our Integrated Sensing and Protection line of business, based in Southampton/Basildon. The line of business designs, integrates and supplies intelligence, electronic products and systems, covering all stages of the lifecycle from business winning, research and development, through to production and support.
- Gain exposure to a range of projects, from technical design to multi‑million pound production, and experience their full lifecycle – bid and capture, project initiation, delivery, repairs and customer support.
- Gain essential building blocks and learning to understand your project and prospect data and tools, and experience in monitoring and controlling your projects.
- Immerse within a multi‑functional Integrated Project Team (IPT) and Project Controls team to gain an understanding of the day‑to‑day life of a project manager; by the end of the placement you will be equipped with practical experience to support your ongoing development.
- Currently studying a relevant degree discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM subject degrees.
- Preference for Engineering, other STEM subjects, Business or Project Management.
- Good communicators – both written and verbal.
- Able to use all Microsoft Office applications.
- Analytical problem solvers, with the ability to think laterally.
- Pro‑active and results driven with a "can do" attitude.
This role is subject to pre‑employment screening in line with the UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personnel Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NSV) may apply, which could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
