Your new roleAs our new Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be part of our growing UK team working on building and infrastructure projects throughout the UK and internationally. You will have the opportunity to thrive in technical delivery excellence and develop excellent understanding of client care.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Provide mechanical design excellence within a team of Mechanical Engineers, working collaboratively with colleagues from other engineering disciplines, e.g. structural, electrical and public health engineers, etc
- Positively raise the profile and reputation of Ramboll and our Southampton Team
- Support our project and discipline leads to develop and oversee mechanical concepts and design solutions
- Complete design calculations using industry standard software, such as Magi Cad, IES, Revit etc.
- Inspire and enthuse the engineers and technicians working with you on your projects
- Liaise with clients and collaborators, representing Ramboll at project meetings
- Support our projects and discipline leads to manage key accounts and developing relationships with new clients
- Support our team sector business development strategies
- Support our project and discipline leads to implement best practice procedures to enhance and maintain delivery of sustainable, zero carbon, innovative and quality advisory and design services

- Must have demonstratable experience in mechanical design engineering on UK building projects, preferably complex, technically challenging, high resilience or healthcare buildings
- Proven mechanical design engineering experience and capability that thrives in a high performing, collaborative and inclusive culture
- Educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
- MCIBSE, MIMechE or MIHEEM or with qualifications/credentials supporting Chartered Engineer status, and a thorough understanding of digital design delivery through Revit/BIM 360
- Understanding of project technical challenges and risks
- Excellent communicator capable of explaining complex technical concepts to our clients and project team partners in plain language, verbally and writing
- Able to collaborate and inspire confidence both internally and externally across geographical borders
- Able to work autonomously on all technical aspects of the discipline
