Job OverviewUniversity Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a dynamic and forward‑thinking radiographer to join our radiotherapy team. The role involves the day‑to‑day management of the radiotherapy patient workload and leading a team of radiographers on one of our linear accelerators at our main site or at our satellite centre in Basingstoke. Rotational work includes pre‑treatment, DXR and our new brachytherapy suite.
Additional opportunities are available in TBI, SA , sarcoma, neuro‑oncology (SRS/T) and intra‑operative radiotherapy (IOERT) for pancreatic and GI tumours.
The normal department working hours include 7.5‑hour shifts between 0700‑2000 (Monday‑Friday). We also provide on‑call services for MSCC patients during the weekend. The department commits to continuing professional development and evidence‑based practice through regular in‑house training, external courses, supervision sessions, peer‑support meetings and staff appraisal.
What You Will Do- Lead the delivery of radiotherapy treatment.
- Calculate and record radiotherapy treatments accurately.
- Ensure the well‑being and care of patients during their radiotherapy.
- Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or Diploma from the College of Radiographers.
- State registration with the HCPC.
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills.
- Experience with a wide variety of radiotherapy techniques and equipment.
- Strong communication skills with diverse groups.
- Leadership ability and ability to work as a team member.
- Initiative and ability to work within the confines of the role.
- Degree in Therapeutic Radiography or equivalent.
- Registration with the HCPC.
- Defined area of specialist practice/experience with caseload management.
- Experience working to a high standard with a variety of radiotherapy techniques.
- Leadership experience and teamwork skills.
- Self‑direction and punctuality.
- Higher degree or Diploma in Management.
- Project‑management or educational experience.
- Understanding of wider radiotherapy agenda, including specialised commissioning.
- Experience with the latest technological advances.
