An exciting opportunity for a part‑time Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology (Band 8A). The new post is located in Victoria House at Southampton General Hospital, part of the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will join an established well‑integrated neuropsychology team that provides diagnostic and therapeutic services across inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include diagnostic assessments, therapeutic input for a broad spectrum of neurological conditions for both inpatients and outpatients, and contribution to the awake craniotomy service.

Jobresponsibilities
The key areas the postholder is likely to be involved with include: the epilepsy service, cognitive service (early‑onset dementia), in‑patient stroke rehabilitation team, the awake craniotomy surgery service, HD and MS outpatient neurological service. The role will include direct and indirect clinical input to patients, their families and carers, in addition to attendance ortunities are available to work on clinical research trials and in service audit.
Regular supervision and peer support will be provided.
- Post‑graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience.
- Registration on the British Psychological Society's Register of Applied Practice Supervisors (RAPPS).
- Post‑doctoral level training in Clinical Neuropsychology and eligible for registration on the British Psychological Society's Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists.
- Experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a minimum of 2 years.
- Experience of working in one or more of the following neuro‑relevant settings: a neuropsychology service, a Memory Assessment Service, an Older People's Mental Health Service or an acute hospital neuro department or Neuro‑Rehabilitation Unit.
- Experience of working within and actively participating in a team environment.
- Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment.
- Knowledge of legislation and policy developments in the area of neurological and long‑term conditions, capacity and consent.
- Experience of supervision and teaching assistants and trainee psychologists.
- Undertaking or working towards the BPS Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology.
- Experience of representing the profession in a range of policy fora.
- Experienced in the application of advanced theoretical and experimental models from neuroscience, medicine and psychology in the administration of diagnostic procedures requiring resection, electrical stimulation, or sedation of the brain.
