AboutThe Role
The telecare service assists the residents of Southampton to live safe, healthy, and independent lives and it is one of the first considerations for people who are in need of support and care in the community.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the City Telecare Team of approximately 30 staff, delivering a number of services including:
- Emergency assistance (via an IT based alarm system) to over 9,000 telecare alarm connections for vulnerable people.
- Arranging appointments, assessments, and installation of various telecare equipment within the City Council’s own properties and private residences.
- A Team of Responding Officers who go out and visit people in their own homes in response to emergency telecare alarm activations.
- Handle emergency out of hours’ telephone calls on behalf of the City Council, dealing with housing repairs, highways issues and many other vital City Council services.
The post holder will be responsible for supervising all staff working within the team, primarily working normal office hours Monday to Friday, but with the willingness to work outside of these hours occasionally, in line with the needs of the service. Flexibility is essential in this role as the number one priority is continuity of service, and there may be occasions where the post holder is required to carry out front line operational duties in order to ensure business continuity.
EssentialAbout you
- A good standard of general education, including literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
- Strong supervisory experience with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Knowledge and practical experience of assistive technology to support independence in the home.
- Ability to make sound, timely decisions in challenging situations.
- Excellent communication skills to build effective relationships and partnerships.
- Experience of managing services in line with service level agreements and customer service standards.
- Experience of managing a team, keeping them motivated and developing their skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work autonomously and set high personal standards.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Experience in service development and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with TEC (Technology Enabled Care) code of practice and quality standards.
- Understanding of financial management within a service context.
Salary:
The salary band for this role is £41,771 - £46,141 per annum. The starting salary is £41,771 with annual progression through the salary bands.
