Job Overview

Due to continued growth, Leonardo offers an exciting opportunity for a Site Security Controller. You will join an integrated project team, reporting to the Project Lead on site, and act as the point of contact for all security related activities at a secure facility. You will provide professional, polite and considered security advice, guidance and support in compliance with company policies and national security requirements.

What

You’ll Do

Site Security Controllers are responsible for ensuring the project operates all activities in compliance with company policies and national security requirements. Daily duties include:

Security Control & Administration
  • Manage access to the secure facility for regular staff, visiting staff and internal and external visitors.
  • Complete checks on security clearance.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies and necessary escorting.
  • Manage passes and lock combinations for secure facility doors and cabinets.
  • Control, register, muster, audit and destroy classified assets and artefacts.
  • Cryptographic management and liaison with the Site Security Manager.
  • Control IMPEX and manage records of import to and export from secure systems.
  • Manage goods in/out records and liaise with Site Goods In and Security teams.
  • Liaise with wider Site Security & UK Security teams.
  • Facilitate inspections and audits of the secure facility by external teams (e.g., MoD, NACE).
  • Brief new joiners and departmental staff on all aspects of facility security.
  • Provide first point of contact for all business security enquiries.
  • Deliver secure business knowledge in response to project, IT or personal needs.
  • Coordinate and control the Secure Facility Security Risk Registers.
  • Act as the Security Business Continuity Coordinator.
  • Maintain good working relationships with key personnel, internally and externally.
  • Address site enquiries and complaints professionally and constructively.
Customer Service
  • Provide an effective, professional service to internal and external customers, being the principal point of contact for all security enquiries.
  • Liaise with other companies and agencies to facilitate contractual compliance with HMG SPF for classified material.
  • Report to the Site Security Manager any issues or concerns that may impact the company’s security and compliance with national security regulations.
Process Administration
  • Maintain an effective service and an up-to-date electronic filing system for all security related records.
  • Coordinate the archiving and deletion of security‑held information in accordance with company, HMG SPF and GDPR.
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing processes through managed change control.
Team Working / Organizational Expertise
  • Be proactive and adapt working patterns to meet changing workload.
  • Provide instruction and training to permanent and temporary staff on company and government security requirements.
  • Contribute to building a team spirit atmosphere.
Resource Control
  • Utilise equipment and consumables efficiently, saving resources where possible.
Qualifications
  • Experienced in a high‑security environment (e.g., military, security services, prison service, HMG, police, financial services, secure engineering).
  • Must hold or be able to achieve UKSV DV Security Clearance with no restrictions.
  • Desirable:
    Working knowledge of relevant HMG security requirements (e.g., JSP
    440).
  • Maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability at all times.
  • Demonstrate diligent and timely process execution.
  • Professional, polite and personable.
  • Ability to work independently within set timescales.
  • Ability to collaborate with business functions and staff as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in delivering a positive customer experience.
  • Use own initiative proactively to achieve results.
  • Proficient IT skills (MS Office).
  • Excellent telephone manner and ability to deal effectively with external agencies.
