✨We're looking for a youth worker who has a passion for supporting young people, is a strong communicator and has experience of working with children and young people around mental health and emotional wellbeing✨
Our CharityNo Limits is the leading youth services charity in Southampton, supporting children and young people in the city and across Hampshire.
At No Limits, it is important our staff and volunteers reflect, represent, and have experience of the challenges faced by the children and young people we support. We are proud of and appreciate our many staff and volunteers who use their own lived experience to support the children and young people they work with.
With this in mind, we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of our work and organisational culture – and when recruiting, it’s important to us that we continue diversifying our staff and volunteer teams, with children and young people at the centre of everything we do. You can learn more about our DEI approach here.
When we talk about talent, we value the transferrable skills and experiences you can bring to No Limits, whether through work (in the same or a different sector), volunteering, or personal experiences. To make sure we get the best talent on our team, we are open to and actively encourage applications from all backgrounds and sections of the community, including diverse ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and neurodiverse individuals.
YourRole
Are you ready to be part of a dynamic and flexible team at the heart of Southampton? We’re looking for someone to join our Youth Information, Advice and Counselling drop‑in centre, where every day is a chance to make a real difference for young people seeking advice and support.
In this role, you’ll take the lead on triaging referrals that come through our single point of access on the website. You’ll start by getting hands‑on experience in our busy and welcoming drop‑in environment to get you up to speed.
As the person in this key role, safeguarding will be absolutely paramount. You’ll be trained to identify and act on any safeguarding concerns, ensuring that every young person gets the protection and care they need.
If you’re someone who’s enthusiastic about youth work, committed to safeguarding, and eager to grow into a pivotal role, we’d love to hear from you!
Your key responsibilities will include:
- The first 3‑6 months will be gaining knowledge on our drop‑in to shape your role
- You will then be triaging enquiries/contacts concerning young people
- Act as the first point of contact and signpost young people and / or families to the relevant support
- Assess the needs of young people and work with them and – where appropriate – their parents, carers and / or partners to navigate health, social care and community‑based service
- Work as part of a wider team around the young person
Please see thejobdescription for further details about the responsibilities of the role.
We are committed to making a difference in the lives of the children and young people we work with, and as such, you must show a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours which flow from the No Limits ethos. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people is paramount.
We particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and those who have had experiences similar to the young people we aim to support. We are committed to creating a diverse environment where people can be their authentic selves, where their experiences and opinions are valued, and we are all open to learning from each other.
