Business Support Administrator

Join the Scottish Information Commissioner – a watchful guardian of the freedom of information under the FOI law. The Business Support Team, led by the Head of Business Support, delivers the corporate backbone: governance, finance, information management, risk, health and safety, human resources, procurement, contracts, and IT.

The Business Support Team consists of five members – two Business Support Managers and two Business Support Administrative Officers – providing day‑to‑day operational and administrative support. The role is primarily responsible for efficient operational support for finance and procurement functions, including payroll, contracts, purchase‑to‑pay processes, workforce planning, records management, audit and reporting.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate records and contribute to the preparation of reports for finance and procurement.
  • Maintain compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Support payroll processes, collating and checking information for accuracy.
  • Process purchase‑to‑pay transactions, managing supplier payments.
  • Provide cover across other areas of the Business Support Team when required.
  • Support organisational projects aimed at improving systems, processes and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Experience providing administrative support in a finance, procurement, payroll or contracts environment.
  • Demonstrable experience processing purchase‑to‑pay transactions, including supplier payments.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience using finance or procurement systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
