The role is working 40 hours per week across a 4 day (Tuesday to Friday).
£36-42,000 per annum plus 22 day' holiday and bank holidays, Pension, 4 day working week etc.
We are recruiting an experienced CNC Machinst / Toolmaker to join a well-established manufacturing operation. This role focuses on the design, manufacture, and maintenance of precision tools and moulds used in plastic product production. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical capability, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities for the CNC Machinist / Toolmaker
* Design and manufacture thermoforming tools and moulds in line with product specifications and engineering drawings.
* Operate, set, and maintain CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and associated toolroom equipment.
* Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs on existing tooling to ensure consistent performance and extended service life.
* Work closely with engineering and production teams to diagnose and resolve tooling and process issues.
* Inspect tools and moulds to confirm compliance with dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
* Maintain accurate documentation relating to tool designs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
* Keep up to date with developments in thermoforming processes and tooling best practices.
Candidate Requirements for the CNC Machinist / Toolmaker
* Secondary education or equivalent; technical certification or qualification in toolmaking, machining, or a related discipline is desirable.
* At least 5 years’ experience in a toolmaking role, ideally within a thermoforming or plastics manufacturing environment.
* Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, or Fusion for tool and mould design.
* Strong hands-on knowledge of CNC machining, milling, and lathe operations.
* Proven problem-solving ability with high attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Capable of working independently, prioritising tasks, and managing multiple work streams.
