East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust requires a Consultant in Emergency Medicine based at Conquest Hospital.
This role will be incorporated into the existing job plan and aligned with the current team, with a focus on twilight shifts and weekend cover.
Applicants must have full GMC registration and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of CCT at date of interview.
Main duties of the jobEast Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust operates two level 1 emergency departments at Eastbourne DGH and Conquest Hospital in Hastings.
Forming part of the Sussex Trauma Network the Conquest is a designated Trauma Unit.
The appointees will join the existing consultants to complete the team at Conquest Hospital but may on occasion be required to work cross-site at Eastbourne .
The timetabled job plan will be 10 PA's, comprising of 7.5 direct care sessions and 2.5 SPAs.

Person Specification Qualifications,Higher Qualifications,Registration- Full registration with GMC and name on specialist register or CCT within 6 months of interview
- Fellowship of College of Emergency Medicine or equivalence
- Other higher qualifications
- Wide experience in all aspects of Emergency Medicine.
- ALS Provider. ATLS Provider, Paediatric life support provider
- Experience in acute medicine
- Completion of other courses relevent to speciality.
- ALS, ATLS Instructor, Paediatric life support instructor.
- Understanding of NHS management structure and the principles of Clinical Governance
- Management course and/or qualifications.
- Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit.
- Evidence of completed audit project.
- Understanding of the role of research in Emergency Medicine.
- Publication of original research and audit projects.
- Effective communicator, able to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Familiarity with information technology and general computer skills.
- Ability to work with colleagues in other specialities to develop local services.
- Professional attitude toward work and good record of attendance.
- Demonstration of management of change in clinical practise and commitment to integration of Emergency and Acute Medicine.
- Enthusiasm for teaching medical staff, nursing staff and students and other professional groups.
- Qualification in Medical Education.
