OverviewWe are looking for a dedicated SLEP Field Engineer to work at Beacon Barracks, Stafford, as part of Amey’s Defences Equipment team. This role involves proactive maintenance, repair and inspection of fleet assets under the Service Life Extension Programme (SLEP), ensuring rapid, cost‑effective fixes while maintaining safety and operational availability.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate with the SLEP Centre Supervisor and Equipment Sustainability Manager to outline work schedules, cost estimates and timelines.
- Identify additional work required on equipment, follow the NFW&T process for damage, and explore potential revenue opportunities.
- Complete all job and service documentation accurately, securing necessary customer signatures.
- Repair, maintain, inspect and service plant and HGV equipment in accordance with company standards, LOLER and PUWER legislation.
- Maintain local stocks of spares, attachments and technical documentation.
- Collect and input maintenance management information as required.
- Adhere to safe systems of work and company safety, health, environmental and quality policies.
- Mentor WFA and MoD maintainers and users within your qualifications.
- Perform out‑of‑hours duties, including weekend work, as required.
- Achieve local or team‑placed goals and KPIs.
- Full UK driving licence.
- City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent in mechanical engineering.
- Experience in diagnostic techniques.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety, LOLER and PUWER regulations.
- Experience in construction‑related plant, MHE or HGV maintenance.
- No restrictions to obtaining MoD security clearance.
- Ability to load and unload equipment, tools, STTE and spares.
- Valid passport (for occasional overseas travel).
- Capacity to handle intense workload periods.
