Pay: Pay starts from £14.76 per hour, increasing to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may apply depending on location.

We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week. For those interested in fewer hours (minimum 12), we also have opportunities.

Availability windows (the periods we prefer you to be available):

  • Mon: 06:00 – 14:00
  • Tue: 14:00 – 23:00
  • Thu: 14:00 – 23:00
  • Fri: 10:00 – 18:00
  • Sat: 06:00 – 15:00

We will schedule your contracted hours within these windows and provide three weeks notice of shift timings. We support flexibility; if your availability closely matches but does not exactly align, we welcome you to apply.

About the role: Customers are at the heart of everything we do. A Shift Leader supports the store team, ensures smooth operation, and delivers excellent customer service. You’ll face interesting challenges while overseeing the store from the shop floor and help to improve customer, colleague, and community experiences daily.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience.
  • Support colleagues, ensuring daily priorities are met and regular breaks taken.
  • Open and close the store, completing duty cover, ensuring all decisions are safe.
  • Act as the go‑to person for day‑to‑day queries in the absence of a manager.
  • Keep the store clean, tidy, and well‑presented.
  • Assist managers with seasonal, community, and charity events.
  • Create a great team atmosphere that is inclusive of everyone.
  • Provide excellent customer service by listening to customers and putting them first.
  • Communicate updates, changes, and information to the team.
  • Stay knowledgeable about store performance and look for ways to simplify operations.
  • Identify and remove obstacles to improve service delivery.
  • Follow health and safety routines and procedures, and ensure colleagues do the same.
  • Recognise and celebrate colleagues who provide excellent service.
