Job Description

We are seeking a Thermal Engineer who will primarily be responsible for performing thermal design analysis and testing of spacecraft systems and subsystems. You will work on a variety of projects including telecommunications, navigation, Earth observation, science and exploration. Recent projects have included Solar Orbiter, Bepi‑Colombo, Lisa Pathfinder, Eurostar Neo and One Sat.

Security Clearance

Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance.

Travel Required

Occasional.

Location

Stevenage Site – 60% of the working week must be office based.

How you will contribute to the team
  • Apply a proven understanding of thermal analysis principles to challenging engineering projects.
  • Undertake spacecraft thermal analysis work packages within a team of thermal engineers.
  • Work to a specification with the correct interpretation of thermal requirements.
  • Support thermal testing activities – generating test predictions, developing test plans, running tests, evaluating results and correlating thermal models to test data.
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams to ensure design solutions can be developed on cost, quality and time.
  • Author clear and concise thermal‑analysis reports demonstrating understanding of thermal performance and compliance.
About you
  • Understanding of thermal design drivers for spacecraft systems, subsystems and/or equipment.
  • Understanding of thermal analysis techniques, methods and principles.
  • Prior experience with thermal analysis tools (Systema Thermica, Thermisom, ESATAN‑TMS, Hyperworks, etc.) – beneficial.
  • Knowledge of a range of active and passive thermal control solutions.
