We’re looking for a Payroll and Finance Officer. This hands‑on role manages payroll and bookkeeping to support care teams.
AboutThe Role
The Payroll and Finance Officer will join our back‑office team and be responsible for managing end‑to‑end payroll for multiple companies, ensuring accuracy, compliance and confidentiality. You’ll work closely with HR and the wider finance team to resolve queries, support management accounts and improve systems.
Responsibilities- Manage payroll for 20–400 employees using Sage and Xero
- Process payroll each month accurately, including reconciliations and statutory calculations (maternity, sick pay, holiday pay)
- Administer pensions, ensuring uploads, reporting and regulatory compliance
- Produce payroll journals, control account entries and reconciliations to support timely management accounts
- Distribute payslips, P45s, P60s and P11
Ds on schedule - Respond to payroll queries quickly and professionally, liaising with HR, employees and managers
- Support audits and produce clear reports for senior management
- Contribute to improvements in payroll systems, processes and internal controls
- Assist the wider finance team with bookkeeping, accounting tasks and ad‑hoc projects as required
- Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and professionalism in all payroll and finance activities
- Proven experience in payroll processing and compliance
- Knowledge of accounting accrual principles and double‑entry bookkeeping
- Experience with Sage Payroll and Xero accounting software
- Experience with end‑to‑end payroll for large teams
- Ability to handle payroll reconciliations and statutory pay calculations
- Payroll qualification from a recognised body (e.g., CIPP, diploma) or bachelor’s degree in finance/business, AAT Level 4 or equivalent
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Excellent communication skills, particularly via phone and email
- Experience with pension uploads and payroll queries
- Experience in the care sector is a bonus

London Paramount Care does not offer sponsorship. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. Annual leave cannot be taken between 18 December and 7 January annually.

Contract Type:
Full‑time.
Salary:
From £28,000.00 to £35,000.00 yearly.
