- Act as an IT System Administrator, managing, maintaining, and securing BBP computer systems that support flow cytometry, proteomics, imaging, and pathology applications.
- Handle administration of software such as Dotmatics OMIQ, Cytolytics, Indica Labs Halo, Prima, Cytek Spectro Flo, DNANexus, Dragen, etc.
- Oversee computing environments, including cost management, virtual and on‑premises machines, and application server/database deployment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot hardware and software, performing patch management and system updates.
- Respond promptly to service issues and requests from lab scientists, diagnosing and resolving problems in coordination with internal and external support.
- Implement and maintain security protocols and access controls, managing user accounts and permissions to safeguard sensitive data.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards, preferably in a GxP environment.
- Support network and facilities infrastructure upgrades such as network switch, firewall, and operational technology enhancements.
- Manage integrations and connectivity of lab equipment to GSK systems, including LIMS, ELN, and data shares.
- Stay informed on new applications, engaging with external experts and vendors, and collaborate internally to deliver AI‑enabled process improvements.
- Present on site, supporting lab scientists at Stevenage five days a week.
Qualifications & Skills
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience working in IT within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
- Robust experience as an IT Systems Administrator, with expert knowledge in maintaining and troubleshooting technical issues.
- Prior experience in programming.
- Demonstrable experience supporting lab‑facing instrumentation and associated systems to deliver data.
- Highly motivated, efficient team player with proactive attitude, excellent organisational skills, and ability to interact effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Advanced knowledge of computer system requirements and software validation for regulated environments.
- Hands‑on experience with software upgrades in a GxP environment, managing change control and onboarding new software.
- Understanding of the lab environment, GxP, and/or computer system validation.
- Experience with automation systems such as Agilent Bravo, Echo liquid handler, Hamilton Star.
- Knowledge of SQL.
- Experience and understanding of AI tools deployment to improve processes and expedite manual tasks.
