We are recruiting for the role of Assistant Service Manager in our Public and Private law team(s) covering the Stevenage area.

Assistant Service Manager – Public & Private Law

As an Assistant Service Manager you will lead a team of Family Court Advisers, ensuring high‑quality reflective practice and safeguarding standards. You will act as a mentor, coach and supervisor, promoting resilience and wellbeing for your team, and championing the values of the Together practice framework.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of Family Court Advisers, providing supportive coaching and reflective supervision.
  • Ensure all practice meets safeguarding, quality and impact standards.
  • Promote resilience and wellbeing at work, maintain morale and effectively manage staff with a range of experience.
  • Communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, using emotional intelligence at all levels, especially when interacting with children.
  • Manage and develop practice quality standards for those you directly manage.
  • Oversee and implement the organization’s practice framework – Together with Children and Families.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Organised, resilient and experienced in supervising, coaching or mentoring social workers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to support a diverse team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, child‑protection and best‑interest decision‑making.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
